For the evening, Maria and Matt wanted a cocktail party nightclub feel; they also wanted to incorporate the love of their pets into the wedding day. For the wedding breakfast we named the tables after their pets. The couple wanted cupcakes, so we had the topper/figures for them made in the likeness of each of their pets. There was a slight twist with the cup cakes too; each of the cup cakes figures was a different flavor of cocktail. In the evening we delivered a genuine night club feel, in a marquee.

After listening to what the couple wanted and needed for their guests, we started off with a venue search. I always had one particular venue in mind for the couple that fitted their specification and requirements; but felt that the couple needed to see and explore all the other options first, to get a feel for what else was on offer.

Regarding the venue I first had in mind for the couple, we left this to the end of the day, but as soon as they walked through the door into the venue, there faces lit up, and they fell in love with it straight away, and were sure this is the one for them.

Before booking the venue, I did a very quick provisional check with the registrar to check there availability for the date required, and asked them to pencil the couple in. The couples were absolutely delighted with the choice of venue; it was exactly what they were looking for

The only traditional parts of the wedding were the ceremony, wedding dress, and, top hat and tails with canes that the groom and groomsmen wore. We stuck to three main colours, which were black, white and turquoise all the way through.

After the ceremony, there were no posed official shots at the registrar table; it was straight outside for Champaign and canapé’s with the guests.

After a quick change of dress for the bride, the couple and the guests made their way into the Orangery for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The music was kept very up beat in the back ground while they all enjoyed their meal.

After the meal, Maria took herself off again for yes a third change dress ready for her evening celebrations. The couple wanted a completely different feel for the evening from the day – more of a club and party atmosphere – with state of the art lighting, and amazing cocktails.

We arranged and planned with my clients to have a marquee built and erected for the evening party in the grounds of Stubton Hall. It took three days to build, and I believe this is Stubton’s very first marquee. For maximum impact, we had a split level marquee positioned overlooking the lake, with decking and outside seating area. We placed lanterns on the lake to add a little more atmosphere. It looked stunning and totally fabulous.

The guests were truly spoilt and entertained with a fantastic band and DJ, followed by fireworks over the lake. It was truly magical. After the fireworks display it was back into the marquee for a buffet with a chocolate fountain, and yes those very important cocktails, and more music and dancing.

The nightclub feel was amazing – we used a specialist lighting engineer who really delivered the most fantastic light show from start to finish. The blacked out marquee, the star field ceiling, and the tables with mood under-lighting, the dance floor, and DJ – all added to the really unique feel of this wedding. We spent a lot of time getting the small details for the evening perfect.

Congratulations to Maria and Matt on your wedding day, it was a truly magical day, and it was a pleasure helping you both with your wedding planning. I think we can honestly say we achieved every thing you asked for and a lot more!

Alexandra and Kim went for a truly English vintage style wedding. They make it very unique, with lots of little individual things that they had hand made themselves.

Leading up to the wedding I was the first point of contact for all of the suppliers. I drew up a detailed schedule of the timings to ensure the smooth running of the wedding day.

On the day I spent a couple of hours with the bride at her parents house to be to ensure every thing was going to plan, and to make sure she was enjoying the run up to the wedding.

The couple had a church wedding, followed by a marquee wedding reception at the local cricket club; they had the use of the grounds and pavilion.

The marquee was trimmed with bunting and fairy lights. There were lots of quirky little things dotted around that made all the difference to the outside like small little vases of flowers and candles

There were a few surprises during the reception, including a Spitfire and helicopter flypast! The bride was totally unaware of these surprises, the hardest thing for me was to keep the wedding party outside for the scheduled times, but it all worked out beautifully.

The couple decided not to go for the full traditional wedding breakfast, but instead have a more relaxed afternoon tea party, followed by a few games on the lawn. Later entertainers circulated amongst the guests showing them tricks – while live jazz was playing in the background in the marquee.

In the evening the band played, and the guests danced the night away, with only one small stop for a buffet and pig roast, whilst stilt walkers served some beautiful chocolate truffles.

The couple were very conscious that they wanted their guests not be bored, but to be relaxed, happy and entertained on this special day. I can honestly say yes they were. The evening finished with just one more surprise… A Moulin Rouge fire eating and flame throwing extravaganza. This was amazing.

We would just like to say a big congratulation to Alexandra and Kim the happy couple, and wish you both a long and happy marriage together. It was a total pleasure to be with you both and all your friends and family on such a happy day.

Elizabeth really helped to pull all the plans together. Two months before my wedding day, I enlisted the help of Elizabeth King to help finalise my wedding plans. I planned my wedding entirely; we were creating our reception venue and bringing in everything from wine glasses to hog roasts. Being able to hand over the plans at this stage, ensured I then had time to make those final preparations so that I could be the blushing bride that I hoped to be. Knowing Elizabeth would competently get on with what was needed was fantastic.

Her contact book is incredible and when last minutes change to the entertainments programme had to be made, Elizabeth had a great company at her finger tips and within a few days the problem was fixed!

Elizabeth and her husband Richard went well and truly beyond the call of duty on the wedding day and made sure that everything that should happen did, and anything that was not meant to didn’t. Our wedding day was the best day of our lives, and Elizabeth was a key part in making this so.

The couple needed to accommodate a large number of guests, have a large dance floor suitable for a Scottish ceilidh, extended licensing hours, low corkage charges and to have their own choice of suppliers.  Most importantly the couple reasonably desired the freedom to have the wedding the way they wanted it.  All of this was delivered, whilst keeping everything on a specified budget.

Firstly, within a few days, I found them a choice of three venues that met their criteria – and then everything started to fall into place.

Paula and Kristian chose my full wedding planning service.  I spent a fair amount of time with the couple trying to capture their personalities and getting to know them.  I worked out how we could incorporate their ideas and vision into their wedding day.

I worked with the couple for about a year, helping them right from the start of the planning process. I defiantly achieved all the couple wanted and more – managing to incorporate English, Polish and Scottish elements into the day seamlessly.

On a personal note, I would like to congratulate the couple on their marriage; a fantastic day was had by all – a truly memorable wedding… The pictures and video say it all.

What the Brides and Grooms said
The feedback from the brides and grooms was tremendous, we love meeting couples face to face. We know that it is really important for you to click with your wedding planning and photographer. One thing came out loud and clear – many couples appreciate having an independent person to speak to, as opposed to the “planners at the venue” that only seem to recommend “preferred suppliers”

Themes
Another thing that really came out of the fayres for us are the amount on brides and grooms organising themed weddings – ranging from medieval through to tea parties and “strictly come dancing”. Again all of these couples were struggling with making the wedding planners at the venues really take on board what they really wanted

And now for the champagne
We ran a prize draw for a bottle of Champagne, and today we pulled the winner out of the bag!

Where we have been
2 Weeks ago, we exhibited at the fayre in the marquee at Langford Hall, which is literally a few minutes away from us. This is a super venue, and we totally enjoyed the day

Yesterday we attended the wedding fayre at Stubton Hall, which was very busy. We feel a little hoarse, and feel like we spent the last few weekends talking and talking and talking and we both have sore feet!

Photography
Richard my husband said that people really wanted coverage all day long, and a disk with all of the images signed over to them. It seems that’s all he was being asked for all day long, which is super, because that’s just what he offers. The other trend that came out was that people seem to want something to go on the wall, as well as albums

Suppliers
We met some super suppliers, both really local and from afar. Some of the floristry, stationary and dresses were absolutely amazing!

Congratulations
We wish all the lovely couples we have met over the last few weeks our congratulations. Wedding planning can be hard work, but it ought to be fun. Stick with it, and do call us when you need some help

Worksop Town Hall is what I call a “dry venue” meaning you hire it, and then have to provide all of the decorations & food etc. The Bride and Groom had organised everything themselves, but just wanted someone to manage and coordinate the day for them, and make all of their ideas happen.

The Bride chose to arrive at the venue in an enormous limousine! And it certainly was a magnificent entrance.

My role at the venue was to ensure that all of the small details like the cake, the place cards, and where people were sitting were attended to. I also managed turning around the ceremony room for the meal and then again for the evening. Additionally I had to co-ordinate the catering for the wedding breakfast, and the buffet in the evening.

Having chosen a venue without any staff to manage and organise things, the bride and groom really did not want the stress of managing the details on a moment to moment basis. The bride and groom had a stress free day, as I attended to all of the details, and organised the staff. I am sure the caretaker will eventually forgive me for keeping him on his toes all day! A big thank you has to be given to the caretaker who worked like a trooper for me

The wedding day was a roaring success and everyone had a superb time. I congratulate Leeanna and Philip on your wedding and wish you the best for the future

Angela and Jonathan both live in Hong Kong.  They first approached me three months before their wedding date.  The only thing that was booked was the church. So they asked me if it was possible for me to supply them with a full wedding planning and co-ordination service.  I said I would rise to the challenge. So lots of e-mailing and phone calls later, we achieved the couples dream wedding

Angela started her wedding preparation at the Charlotte House Hotel, in Lincoln, the day before.   I arranged for Angela to have a hair and make up trial before the big day, just to make sure she was 100% happy with my choices. Angela then went on to have an intimate family meal together. The hair and make up artists did a truly wonderful job, and sure you will agree

Angela and Jonathan had Richard King  – a professional photographer to cover the whole day, and what a fabulous job he did too. Many thanks again for a fabulous job well-done.

I organised the accommodation for the guests, and laid on transport.  Rather than having separate cars for the bridesmaids and flower girl.  Angela’s daughter, who was the flower girl, wanted them all to travel together.   The car we chose had lots of room to do this

The happy couple decided to get married at St. Helen’s church at Gate Burton

Angela arrived in style at the church.  She chose a beautiful black and cream Daimler Limousine. The car company provided a very high standard of service. Many Thanks

Angela’s daughter, who was only eight years old, had some very important roles to play in the wedding proceedings

Montana was the flower girl, and lead the bridal party down the aisle, sprinkling petals as she walked

Montana wanted to give some thing special to her parents – so she stood up and did a beautiful composed reading for us all, and she brought a proud tear to her parents and guests eyes
After the ceremony the bride and groom made their way to a secret river destination that I had planned for them both

It was Angela’s dream to arrive in style to her wedding venue in a horse and carriage, so I made that happen

At the river the couple transferred from the limousine to the horse and carriage, where they was served Champaign and enjoyed lovely view’s along the way

In the mean time I had arrange for the wedding party to be taken from the church to the venue.  We chose a very scenic route to show them the lovely scenery around Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.  Most of the guests were from Hong Kong and London, and not seen this beautiful part of the world before

Once the guests had arrived at the venue, they was served Champaign and canapés

When the couple had arrived at the venue; I collected their daughter out of the marquee to show her a surprise – her parent’s arrival in the horse and carriage.  She was so excited. Her parents asked if Montana would like a short ride in the carriage; please see below the photo, I think you know the answer to that question

Due to the venue not being able to accommodate the numbers of guests inside the manor house, we had a marquee erected, it look fabulous

We chose to have an excellent local caterer to provide the outside catering, and they provided a very professional service. (Many thanks to the team)

After the wedding breakfast we had a live band, and they were terrific, the lead singer exceeding all expectations, they soon got all the guests up on the dance floor

Although I really didn’t think it would be possible due to the heavy rain, that evening At 10.30 we announced to our guests that we had further surprise – fireworks!

The team that provided the fireworks were amazing and professional to the end, and it was all on time too. What a display, fantastic

It was a pleasure planning and coordinating the wedding day of Angela and Jonathan, although very challenging at times.  Due to the time constraints we planned the complete wedding in 12 weeks!

My reward for all my hard work was seeing their happy faces.  The guests and family made me feel part of it all, what a fabulous and special day

Living and working in Hong Kong, we were very lucky to find Elizabeth at quite short notice (about 3 months out from our wedding day).  After an initial exchange of emails and a detailed conversation on exactly what we didn’t want for our dream wedding, Elizabeth worked with us tirelessly to establish exactly what we did want!

How can a wedding planner save you this money?

In almost every aspect of planning a wedding there seems to be hidden charges and costs.   Example – Venues especially will try and double charge you an administration fee for bringing in your own band or DJ.  As your wedding planner I will properly negotiate for you, ensuring such fees are normally waived.

The funny thing about weddings is that normally prudent couples don’t spot obvious duplication of costs Example – why have chair covers in a chapel, and then use more covers on the chars in the adjoining dining room?  In this instance we would have a member of staff move the chairs, which only takes a few min’s while your wedding photography is being done.  This could save you a few hundred pounds

An experienced wedding planner is what you need

My experience of negotiating contracts, knowing what is exactly needed (and what isn’t) saves you money.  This can either just be saved, or put towards another aspect of the wedding

Overall, in nearly all cases, I have directly saved the couple more than my fee

Yes this is true.  I can do this because I am totally transparent.  I pass any savings I negotiate directly on to my brides, grooms and couples

We don’t handle your money

It is about the only thing we ask you to do.  We negotiate for you, and then tell you who needs paying, and when.  You can directly see who and what you are paying for

Although I am asked daily by suppliers, I NEVER accept referral fees, neither do I accept the double invoice method of charging (a practice where the client is sent a different invoice than the planner

Couples respect me for this, and so do my suppliers

I am 100% independent

The package offered at many venues, will include a photographer, caterer, car etc.  Often, in the background, all of these suppliers will be paying the venue for “being on the list”.  Nothing infuriates me more as a creative wedding planner than these closed packages.  They offer brides, grooms and couples an inflexible package where the suppliers feel that they are being squeezed on price when providing their service

As your wedding planner I am 100% independent.  For example: when choosing a car for you, we choose the one you want, not the one on the short list.  By being independent, we can choose the very best for you.  For example: if you want a DJ, then you may want something better than the local hotel chap, we will find you the band or DJ that suits your needs the best

Being independent saves you money too

I deal with all suppliers, not those on the list.  Often this means we can find you a better supplier, that hasn’t offered a stripped down package for the venue, for the same price, or usually a better price than the price factored in by the venue

It’s not all about money

Our criteria for sourcing you a supplier is quality, talent, reliability, creativity and honesty.  Most of the time, the very best people, also offer the best prices.  They do take some finding, but we do find them

My budget is modest, can you help?

There is a misconception that wedding planners are for the very rich.  In fact we can help a couple just as much if the wedding is on a smaller more modest budget.  We have organised plenty of smaller weddings, and still saved couples a lot of money

I have a budget, and that’s it

We agree.  If we are working to an exact budget for you, we will stick with it.  If your expectations are a little high, we will tell you.  Managing the budget can be the most stressful part of wedding planning. Again our creative skills and negotiating skills enable us to deliver so much more than most couples could achieve on their own

As your wedding planner I will do absolutely everything you want or need me to sort out.  We find venues, marquees, caterers, coaches, bouncy castles – anything!  We make sure the day runs smoothly, we make sure the run up to your wedding is relaxing and enjoyable

Some things not to do?

I know that most couples find out the hard way that the wedding industry is just that – an industry.  What seems to be perfect turns out to be restrictive and limited.  Weddings are about romance, families, dreams the future…  As a wedding planner, it is nice to deal with the “industry” for the couple and ensure that only the best, honest and most talented suppliers are used

• Don’t book a venue, or any other supplier at a wedding fayre. Venues and suppliers spend a fortune looking at their best at a wedding fayre, you need to find out the reality first.  Wedding fayres are great for ideas, and to get a feel for a company.  Meet the people listen to what they are saying, but make your decisions in the following days after a little more research has been done
• Don’t book a venue or supplier without seeing ALL of the fine print
• Don’t be bullied into the “our preferred supplier is… ” issue.   If you want your Aunt to do the flowers, thats fine
• Don’t let your families push you into the day they want (rather then the day you want)
• Don’t forget your budget.  While all the big things add up nicely, all the little things can cost a fortune too
• Don’t forget that a “package” at a hotel or venue, is often a formula that increases the profits for the venue – i.e. it reduces their work effort whilst increasing what you are paying

What should we do?

Well apart from calling me… do take a step back and write down exactly what it is you want from the day – what is important to you as a couple, not everyone else.  Too many couples try to have the dream wedding of their friends or family.  Do insist on having what you want, and not what you are told you can have.  We don’t do inflexible here at Creative Wedding Planning!

As little or as much as you need or want.  As your wedding planner I will usually start by having a long discussion with you, finding out exactly what you want and need.   We will bounce around lots of creative ideas.    I will then find you the perfect venue and suppliers, and begin organising all of big and small things to make the day perfect
